Neurosis song premiere

Siren! All hands on dick! I'm fucking serious! Siren!

holy shit, it went straight past me that a song from the upcoming neurosis album made it's premiere here (to actually hear the song, you have to klick the flashy red button with the speaker. in the middle of the text. knowing what faggots special snowflakes you are, i'll directly link the player here)
you should also read the article. it's really worth your time. and steve von till is one sexy motherfucker.

so what do you think? i have to say, the beginning is a bit slow, but when the heaviness kicks in it literally blows your pants off. this made me even more stoked for the new album (only 25 days until release in europe. fuck yes!)

so long
screw you

HOLY FUCKING SHIT!

ALL CAPS RAGE!

Neurosis - Honor Found In Decay

never before has a 3-minute trailer managed to get me so incredibly excited for a new release. i actually think about embarking on a 4-5 hour-long drive (one way) to germany, just to get this album three days early.
fucking NEUROSIS! if i wasn't so much in love with my full and gorgeous hair, i'd have adopted steve von till as my style-role model long ago.
but alas, my hair is too beautiful, and it would be too much a loss for the world if i ever cut it.
nevertheless. NEUROSIS!

buy this record, you stupid fucktards!

rosetta are capitalist pigs!

yes they are! they played in vienna last night, at Arena, and i made a deal with armine: if i buy two shirts instead of one, they'll play tma-3 for me. and they did! only in for the money!

well, he also told me they have it on regular rotation this tour and all, but i'm shure they only played it because of my request. yes i am (if any of you rosetta guys read this: confirm it so i can feel special and loved, like a special snowflake)

anyways, jokes aside, it was an awesome gig, just like i expected. the tracklist was gorgeous (Red in tooth and claw, je n'en connais pas la fin, clavius (!), tma-3, revolve (! - even though matt said he didn't want to play it, but i'm glad they did. you know, first song i ever heard of them, special experience and all that sentimental stuff), renew, a determinsim of morality and i forgot which one was the encore, but it was awesome, too.

i really enjoyed it, and armine surely enjoyed it too, at least judging from the looks on his face. matt and dave kinda looked grumpy, though, but they did that last year, too, so i figure that's normal. also, a really big plus, the crowd wasn't so obnoxious like last year, there was only one guy literally hanging on armine's feet the whole time instead of the two or three that were there last year.

so, all in all a really good concert that i enjoyed a great deal, and i'm really looking forward to seeing them the next time (though i figure they won't tour europe at least for a year or two, having been here two consecutive years now - but you never know)

so, i wish them the best of luck and godspeed on the coming shows in europe and later on in australia, and tons of fun.
and that they don't get screwed over by the airline like last year

oh, and before i forget, i brought some treasure home from the gig:
all together
shirt 1 detail
shirt 2 detail
PROJECT MERCURY - split w/ balboa
3-way-split w/ east of the wall and year of no light

so far

mid-year update

so, june again
time to look at some useless entertaining statistics
albums listened to in the past 12 months, according to last.fm:

15  Enduser – calling the vultures 176
14  Isis – Oceanic 182
13  Nine Inch Nails – The Fragile - Left 189
12  Enduser – 1/3 190
11  Mouth of the Architect – Quietly 194

quite heavy on the electronic side, with two enduser releases. well, the guy is a fucking genius. nothing, though, compared to the next guy

10  Venetian Snares – Rossz Csillag Alatt Szueletett 197
this album is insanely brilliant, the best release i've heard so far concnerning electronic music. that said, i haven't even scratched on the surface of the snare's works, having just two albums (this one and 'filth') in full, and i don't even want to start thinking about the dozens of aliases he has released music with. enough stuff to fill an entire year worth of listening time, i suppose. probably even more.

09  Tides From Nebula – Earthshine 217
a really neat album and an above average follow-up to their debut 'aura'. however, the post-rock thing starts to wear thin, as no particular tracks are standing out tha i could think of now...

08  Marilyn Manson – Holy Wood (In The Shadow Of The Valley Of Death) 220
the only manson album i have (besides eat me, drink me which was a birthday present, but i haven't listened to it once in the 3 or 4 years i have it now. don't know why), however it's a good one. the tracks really get into your ear, and the lyrics are just...well...manson, ya know

07  Nine Inch Nails – Ghosts I-IV 224
the ever present trent reznor. no top-10 list in any regard to my music without him appearing at least once. which is a good thing. because he makes good music. awesome music. ghosts in particular kinda stand out compared to the rest of his NIN-work. in a very positive way. very refreshing to listen to it, every time. just the straight numbers as naming for the tracks sometimes annoy me a wee bit

06  Neurosis – A Sun That Never Sets 240
ah yes, neurosis. the giants of >whatever< hard and slow genre you can think of. with their prime album, in my opinion. so many memorable tracks. an album that is definetly going to accompany me for the rest of my life

05  Isis – In the Absence of Truth 263
and yet another giant, with a rather controversial album this time. i know that many fans (and the band themselves) don't hold the album in such high regard than the others, because of whatever reason. i don't care. i like it a lot, and although i do indeed like the other isis-albums a bit more, this isn't because in the absence of truth is bad, the others are just a little bit better

04  *shels – Plains of the Purple Buffalo 273
*shels is somewhat of a mystery to me. i don't really know the band that well, for some reason i didn't bother to get involved with band history or the members. nevertheless, i really enjoy the plains a great deal, especially on long car rides

03  God Is An Astronaut – God Is An Astronaut 281
not much to say about that. it kinda feels the same like tides from nebula's earthshine...it's like everything i hear on this record, i've heard it before, in some other way on some other GIAA-album

02  Tides From Nebula – Aura  467
that is one difficult album. there are times where i'm instantly annoyed as soon as i start playing it, but more often i just can't stop listening it and then i have it on repeat for 4 or 5 times straight. especially purr is a song where i get stuck a lot, having it in a loop for hours straight, even though the high pitches sometimes really hurt my ears. it doesn't matter, this song is worth every ear pain

01 God Is An Astronaut – All Is Violent, All Is Bright 565
probably the album i like the very best out of this list, and one of my overall favourites too. it's just so...pure. so overwhelmingly emotional that i sometimes find it hard to grasp just in how many ways this record manages to reach out to me, to touch my mind and my heart, the very fabric of who i am, over and over again every single time i listen to it. it's not an easy record, and it's definetly not a record to be run alongside while you do something else. you have to focus on it, try to understand what it wants to tell you, both individually with each song an on the whole, to truly appreciate the incredible marvel that god is an astronaut has created here

so, all in all it has been somewhat of a slow year for music, overall. at least as far as last.fm is concerned. this is mainly due to two reasons:

first, i mostly listen to music in my car now, and on jewtube (because i discovered some great songs but don't really bother to buy them just yet...)

and second, i became more involved at my serious business internet spaceship game. i volunteered to become a recruiter for my corporation, which is a very time-consuming occupation, but i really enjoy it. i get to know some really nice (and some not so nice) people and i can further my corporation by getting new awesome members (so just for the germanfags right now: wenn ihr schon ne weile spielt, aber keinen bock mehr auf empire oder lowsec habt, quatscht mich einfach ingame an. mein char heißt Mara Garrdin, in der corporation True Argons. alternativ könnt ihr uns auch in unserem public-channel truea nightclub vorbeischauen. dort ist eigentlich fast immer jemand mit dem ihr mal plaudern könnt, und in der MOTD gibts auch einige infos).

also, maybe the updates on this heap of shit blog will come more frequent now. just maybe, though

end of an era

>>ATTENTION: mild spoiler alert! i won't go that much into details, but if you haven't played ME3 yet you should probably wait with reading until you finished it, for the sake of your experience<<

so, everything has to end at some point. or so they say. well, that's life, but there are certain things where you just don't want it to end. one of these things is the greatest experience i've ever had with anything remotely related to computers:

Mass Effect

yes, the series is at an end. at least shepard's story. a story that has accompanied me for four years, a story full of memories, happy and sad, with people i grew to really care for. unique personalities, saints and sinners, friends and assholes, and right in the middle the most authentic protagonist i can imagine. authentic, because i decided the direction in which she developed (yes, i am a proud and fierce advocate of the FemShep-community), triumphed over her victories and was downcast over her defeats, suffered her losses, and more than once just wanted to hug that person and tell her everything's gonna be alright.

bioware created a masterpiece, a game filled with emotion, thrilling until the end (which caused some heavy flaming and hurrdurr-ing among the community, but i actually kinda like it), all in all a fitting end to one of the most epic gaming experiences of the last years.
i still remember picking up mass effect 1 from the store. it was an impulse purchase, i haven't heard of it before (and at that time also didn't know what bioware was all about), but i daresay that this was one of the best decisions of my life. i was literally blown away after my first playthrough, seven or eight more followed (partly due to my harddrive going berserk and erasing pretty much everything on it. stupid fucker). i enjoyed every last second of it.

and now, i'm here, with the story at an end. a sad end. and end where i was just sitting there, before making the final decision, just delaying and thinking about everything i experienced with commander shepard. an end that made me shed manly tears. no, actually, i cried like a little bitch.

a big huge thanks to bioware, drew karpyshyn and especially to jennifer hale. i couldn't imagine anyone whose voice would have fit better for my commander shepard.

so, only one thing is left to say: "i'm commander shepard and this is my favourite game on the citadel"
over and out

meh...

so, another break in the hiatus... another drunk, sleepless night, ideal for taking this blog out of the toilet hibernation. glad you're all so stoked about it.

well, i don't really have any specific topic, so i'm just going to talk about some shit music (behold the surprise!)

currently i have nine inch nails on heavy rotation again. that may be due to fact that i want to suck trent reznor's cock it's one of the most awesome, incredibly touching music projects to ever grace the planet earth with it's presence.

the music pretty much guided me through my young years, and when i saw them live in budapest '09 it was a dream coming true (back then it was actually right on top of my 'things i have to do before i die'-list, but now, my priorities somehow changed).

anyway, the reason that i'm listening to them so much lately is this (listen in HD you cunts!) song, a 'new' one (it's actually from last year already, but escaped my notice until very recently), that is just so fucking awesome that my brain melted and ran out through my ears (a chimp is writing this post, and he's doing his job just aswell as i would...)

if trent ever made an entire album that sounded like this i'd surely want to suck his cock love him even more than before, and it would very well make up for with_teeth and year zero (year zero has at least a very supportable political message, whereas with_teeth is just plain mediocre, except for one or two songs)

anyways, it's way too late to write any more nonsensical crap stuff (and according to my statistics, most of you are from middle/eastern europe, so it's too late for you to read this, also!), so i'll just stop here
